Residents and staff of Karuna Manor, operated by Hospitality Assured client TLC Care, are celebrating after their resident Head Chef Jyoti Patel scooped a runners up award following a celebration awards event at the Houses of Parliament.
Jyoti was entered in the Vegetarian For Life 2018 Awards for Excellence in Vegetarian and Vegan Care Catering. Shortlisted candidates were invited to attend an award-winning presentation on the 17th October at the Houses of Parliament and Jyoti was competing against the very best in the country.
The awards highlight and celebrate the importance of catering well for older vegetarians and vegans. Vegetarian for Life’s 2014 survey suggests that around 6,500 older vegetarians and vegans live in care homes.
Residents at Karuna Manor were full of praise for Jyoti’s achievement and had provided testimonials of their first-hand experience in the food they enjoyed every day. “The food and variety are excellent” said one, and another stated “Jyoti is so happy here, she loves the food she serves, it exceeds all expectations”
Jyoti was thrilled to have been shortlisted and recognized for her passion in delivering exceptional vegetarian food and said “I am very excited to have been nominated for this prestigious award recognizing my passion and dedication as a vegetarian chef”
Ruth Kigga, the Home Manager of Karuna Manor commented “It was a great honor and achievement for Karuna Manor to receive the award at the House of Parliament for The Veggie Chef of the Year award”
