The winners of the 2016 Hospitality Assured Awards were honoured at a ceremony hosted at Westminster Kingsway College, London on Monday.

The awards, in partnership with the Institute of Hospitality’s AGM, included a formal dinner for 150 guests whilst Institute of Hospitality President, Alistair Storey FIH, was the honoured guest for the evening.

The winners of the 2016 Hospitality Assured Awards were:

  • Best UK Newcomer – Mitie 1Team at Vodafone
  • Best International Newcomer – Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
  • Most improved Score – The Capital Hotel
  • Hospitality Assured Champion – Ijeoma Kareem (hospitality analyst at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi).

The awards were decided by the panel of judges whilst submissions were welcomed for the prestigious HA Champion award. Surrey Commercial Services  and Pride Catering Partnership Limited were selected finalists for the Hospitality Assured Champion Award from the many exceptional submissions received.

“Congratulations to all our winners who have done a remarkable job in not only promoting but ensuring excellence,” said Trisha Bennett,  Communications Director at Hospitality Assured. “The awards are in place, not only to honour our deserving winners but to set a standard in which others can aim for and of course exceed. Hospitality excellence should be something we can all be proud of and our winners certainly prove that. Our thanks must go to the Institute of Hospitality and of course the fantastic Westminster Kingsway following a successful awards event.”

The awards’ venue, Westminster Kingsway, has a proud history of hospitality education and has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment providing an excellent setting for what is currently the Institute’s Year of Learning. The venue was able to showcase its facilities and offer the opportunity for students to experience working with Lewis Wilson, Pastry Chef from the Ritz Hotel, to design a showstopper dessert for the event and demonstrate their talents to so many hospitality professionals.

“Winning an award for the most improved score was a real honour and testament to our team who work so hard here at The Capital,” commented Kate Levin, General Manager at The Capital Hotel. “We are thrilled to receive recognition for what we have achieved so far and we are always striving to improve and build upon previous successes. We look forward to working closely with Hospitality Assured in the future to achieve these goals.

Hospitality Assured is widely used by a range of organisations, as the awards demonstrate, in the UK and has reached as far as the Middle East. Through a franchise agreement with the Caribbean Tourism Organization, it is used by more than 50 tourism and hospitality businesses across the Caribbean.
