The Victory Services Club (VSC) today announces it has been selected to host one of the UK’s oldest culinary organisations Réunion des Gastronomes. The organisation, which exists to raise the standards of hotel keeping and catering whilst developing, supporting and promoting the culinary arts, has existed since 1899.

The evening event, taking place on Monday 15th May, will welcome over 40 senior figures from the hotel and catering industry to enjoy a drinks and canapé reception in the venue’s El Alamein Room followed by a three-course dinner in the Trafalgar Room. This will be the first time the historical venue has hosted the prestigious Réunion des Gastronomes, membership of which is drawn from Managing Directors and Managers of hotels and restaurants and other senior professional caterers.

The evening event, which has been created to support the Réunion’s social calendar, will include a three-course British menu specially created by the venue’s Executive Chef Paul Mattocks, including dishes such as Gin & Juniper Cured Scottish Sea Trout & Colchester Crab Salad; Trio of Lamb, Cornish Cutlet, Slow Cooked Neck in Potato and Scrumpy Soaked Pencil Fillet; followed by Poached English Rhubarb. Each course will be paired with fine wine presented by Charlie Boyd from  Ellis of Richmond Wines.

This event follows the news that Brian White, Food and Beverage Manager at the VSC, was shortlisted for the Réunion des Gastronomes Presidents’ Award 2017, an accreditation set up to identify and encourage excellence in professional food and beverage service. Brian was one of five selected from the application process to be shortlisted, making it through to the penultimate round of the judging process.

Air Commodore Nigel Beet CBE, CEO of the VSC says: “We are delighted to have been selected to host a  Réunion des Gastronomes dinner, which is the first time for the Victory Services Club. The Reunion des Gastronomes is an impressive and influential organisation that celebrates and encourages the delivery of the highest standards of cuisine and service in the hotel and catering industry. Hosting this dinner has been made more special due to the fact that our Food and Beverage Manager, Brian White, was shortlisted for the Réunion des Gastronomes Presidents’ Award 2017. Brian has worked for us for over six years and we were extremely pleased to see him being recognised for his dedication and hard work, which has enormously benefited the members of the Victory Services Club, and their guests. We look forward to delivering an exceptional event on 15th May and hope to welcome the Réunion des Gastronomes back to our venue again soon.”
